New Year's Eve Rehearsal

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Just a reminder that we have rehearsal on Saturday Dec. 31st from 8am-6pm. This is a very important rehearsal as we will learn quite a bit of the drill and the pit will essentially learn the show. We will break for lunch at 11:00. Lunch WILL NOT be provided for you, so you will need to leave and go get lunch. Rehearsal will resume at 12:30.

Now for the bad news. There was a great deal of confusion around the pay to play amount for winter drumline. The amount that I was told was $25.00 pay to play. However, as some of you have been told by the office, the amount is actually $50.00. I am VERY sorry for the confusion. The pay to play amount that needs to go to the school is $50.00. Going into this season I was really trying hard to not raise your total fees above $100.00. So I basically am running the winter season on $25 less per student this year. I was thinking that would keep your fee at $100.00 just like last year. However, since the pay to play amount is actually $50.00, the full amount you owe between the boosters $75 and the school $50 is now $125. Again, I am very sorry for the confusion and inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

To summarize, pay to play is $50.00 and the amount owed to the boosters is $75.00

Important Info

First of all, this is a reminder that rehearsals begin Tuesday Dec 6th. Pit will meet from 6:00-7:30 and battery will meet from 7:30-9:00. We also have rehearsal Thursday Dec. 8th at the above times.
Rehearsals for Dec. 13th and 15th are cancelled due to choir and band concerts.

The rehearsals on the 6th and 8th are VERY important as they will be the only rehearsal we have until our one day mini-camp. Our mini-camp will be Dec. 31st (yes New Years Eve) from 8:00a-6:00p. This rehearsal is also VERY important as we will begin to learn drill and the pit will get a lot of time to work on music.

Also a reminder that the first $25.00 that goes to the Boosters is due on Thursdays Dec. 8th. The remaining $50.00 for the Boosters is before our first contest. Also the $25.00 for the pay to play needs to be paid to the school prior to our first contest.

June rehearsals

Sorry for any confusion. I just found out today that the June rehearsal schedule is NOT on the blog. I did post it a while back, but it did not actually post. Sorry to those who I told that the schedule was up. However, since no one actually told me that it wasn't up, I guess no one really looks at the blog anyway.

Thursday Rehearsals

Starting this Thursday, May 5th, the drumline will have rehearsal every Thursday through May from 7-9p. These rehearsals are NOT optional! If you have a conflict you need to speak with me ASAP. We only have a few rehearsals to get ready for the Memorial Day parade and the Strawberry Festival Parade.

We have a lot of work to do in about 4 rehearsals. The warmups have changed this year also. Therefore it is very important that we have everyone at these rehearsals.

I am currently putting the June rehearsal schedule together and should be able to give that out to you very soon. June rehearsals are also NOT optional. As always, I try to be flexible with vacations and such, but please try to schedule things away from rehearsals. Just a reminder that work is NOT excused.

Please remember that you need to have a binder with plastic sleeves for your music. You must have your music at every rehearsal. Basses you need to highlight your music.

I will go over all of the rules at our first rehearsal.

There will be NO REHEARSAL this Thursday, April 28th. Our first rehearsal will be Thursday May 5th, from 7:00-9:00. We will have rehearsal every Thursday in May at that same time.

Awards will be VERY long as it is a full unit retreat for both guard and drumline. They announce all seniors for all groups, and scholarship award winners, and medalists in each class. Could take an hour or more.

combo (both days)-$25.00

We should make finals in our class. We have performed in the top of our class all season winning 3 out of 4 contests. The group that took first place at the contest we did not is no longer in our class.

Important Info

Due to the snow and ice, we are losing a lot of rehearsal time. Having lost this past Thursday rehearsal was bad enough, however, I have been informed that our rehearsal that is scheduled for next Thursday, the 10th is not longer in the gym. A girls basketball game has been rescheduled for that night. We will still have reharsal but it will be all music in the band room. This means that we only have this Sunday, the 6th to put part 3 on! Therefore, we MUST be very effecient and effective with our time.

Next Thursday we will make sure that musically part 3 is ready to go. Then on the day of Kettering we will simply be reviewing and cleaning to try to make part 3 as presentable as possible. YOU MUST MEMORIZE PART 3 NOW!!!

It is also VERY important that we have everyone possible at these couple of rehearsals. If I have already made arrangements with you about missing either of these rehearsals, that is fine. However, for these couple of rehearsals I cannot allow anyone else to miss rehearsal.

Once we get past the Kettering contest, hopefully we will be able to get back to a "normal" rehearsal schedule.

Kettering Contest schedule

Here is the schedule for Sunday Feb 13th, Kettering contest.

Rehearsal- 9:30-11:30-You MUST be on time. We need to start rehearsal at 9:30, not still be setting up at 9:30.

No Rehearsal Tonight Feb. 3

As you might expect, there will be no rehearsal tonight due to the icy roads. Even if things imporve a little during the day, the roads will ice back over when the sun goes down.

Next rehearsal is Sunday. Be prepared to work on Part 3! Please make sure you are practicing your music.

Rehearsal is Cancelled

Due to the roads which are now mostly wet, but will become ice again when the sun goes down, and the fact that the Theatre is having the Winter One Act play tonight we will not have rehearsal.

This means that we only have 1 rehearsal before we perform at Miamisburg!! That is a bit scary, but we will be ok.

It is VERY important that you find some time to practice your music and make sure that you have parts 1 and 2 memorized BEFORE Thursday!

We will NOT have a parents show on Wednesday as we thought. We will do a parents show on Thursday the 27th at about 8:45. So that rehearsal will run a little long. Any parents that are planning on helping move equipment for contests please be at there around 8:30. I want to be able to do a complete run through including entering and exiting the gym. Things are a bit different this year with the electronic equipment so I want to be fully prepared.

I would also like to have that rehearsal start at 6:30 instead of 7:00 so that we can get a little more music rehearsal in and that will help make up for losing 2 rehearsals.

No rehearsal tonight due to snow and school cancelling evening activities. Next rehearsal is Sunday and then on Monday. Please keep practicing your music. Our first contest will be here before you know it.
