Bass Audition Results

there were 5 people that auditioned for the 1 available bass drum spot. All 5 did a very nice job!

We will go into more detail about who is playing what bass drum at the first rehearsal. Also we will be marching 4 or 5 cymbals. We will make that decision at the first rehearsal as well.

Do not forget, the first rehearsal is next Tuesday, Dec. 1st from 7:00-9:00.

reminders and schedule update

This is just to remind everyone that the first rehearsal is Tuesday Dec. 1st from 7:00-9:00. We will have rehearsal on Tuesdays and Thursday through Dec 17 from 7:00-9:00. If you are unable to attend a rehearsal, you need to let me know asap.

There has been a change for our mini camp that occurs over Christmas break. On the handout from the meeting, the minicamp was going to be Jan 1and Jan 2, all day both days. However, due to not being able to get the gym, at those times, we will be having a split mini camp. The mini camp is: January 1st from 12:00-9:00 and January 3rd from 8:00-4:00. Please put these dates in your calander now. These are VERY important rehearsals because this is when we learn the majority of drill and the pit learns most of the music. It is much like band camp in those regards. If you have a conflict you need to let me know asap so we can figure out how to handle it.

Winter Drumline/Guard Meeting

Just a reminder that the winter drumline/guard meeting will be this Thursday, October 15, at 6:00pm in the band room. If you are interested in joining please come to the meeting. It is also helpful if you bring a parent to the meeting as well. Also if you know of anyone else that may be interested please have them come to the meeting.

If you cannot attend the meeting, but are planning on being in the group, please see me to get the information sheet that will be passed out. Also, this allows me to know who and how and people will be in the group.

Tuesday Sectionals

Hello All,

Just a reminder that starting this Tuesday,(August 18th) the percussion section will have sectional after full band rehearsal. The sectional with go from 5:00-6:30. This is for battery and pit both. These sectionals are mandatory. If you are going to miss one I need a note as always.
As the season goes on, we may end these early and cancel one now and then. However, you should always plan on having the sectional.

Also, now that school is about to start your schedules are going to become very busy. Make sure that you keep up with your homework. You still have to find time to practice at home as well. Also, while I understand that sometimes you have a lot of homework certain days, homework is NOT an excused reason to miss ANY rehearsal or sectional. Please keep that in mind and learn to budget your time.

A reminder for the battery, you must have the entire show memorized by Wednesday for the County Fair.

Pit schedule changes

The pit only needs to be at the morning block of rehearsal on Wednesday June 17th, 9:00-12:00
The pit only needs to be at the afternoon block on Thursday June 18th, 1:00-3:00. They will get out at 3:00 instead of 4:00 on Thursday like the battery.

The pit does not need to attend rehearsal on Wednesday June 24th.

Battery rehearsal times have not changed.

After June 24th everyone needs to follow the full band schedule. Full band rehearsal starts on Tuesday June 30th. Check your band calendar from that point forward.

Once school starts in August the entire percussion section will have sectionals on Tuesdays after full band rehearsal. There will be more info on that as we get closer to time.

June 12th

The pit does not need to come to rehearsal on Friday June 12th. Please make sure you continue to check the blog for more updates.

Our first Summer rehearsal is nearly here. EVERYONE is expected to attend this rehearsal. Battery and Pit (front ensemble) need to be there. Much of the show music will be given to you at this rehearsal. Rehearsal is from 9:00a-1:00p.

If for any reason you cannot be there, you need to let me know via phone or email asap.

Soaring Sounds

Hello!

If you are planning to attend the Drum Corps Show Soaring Sounds on July 29th, your money needs to be in on next Wednesday, June 10th. Just bring the $20.00 to our rehearsal. This is a great opportunity for you to see some amazing groups. The percussion sections for drum corps are outstanding. Everyone should attend that possibly can. Though it is not mandatory, it is HIGHLY recommended that you be there. Transportation will be provided for you.

Schedule update

Rehearsal on May 14th has been cancelled.

Also, rehearsal on May 21st is for battery only. Front Ensemble (pit) does not need to be at that rehearsal. Pit does need to be at rehearsal as stated on the 28th of May.

Saturday Results

Our overall score for Saturday was a 75.25. We will discuss this tomorrow morning. I will say that I do not agree with the score at all. You should be VERY proud of the performance you gave today. Your performance was much better than the score indicates. We as a staff are proud of you and the way that you performed.

Tomorrow we perform at 12:00. So follow the times that we given to you on the schedule I past out to you and is already posted here.

Parents welcome at Wednesday Rehearsal

On Wednesday Feb.25, we have rehearsal from 7-9. This rehearsal is also a dress rehearsal. Please wear all parts to your uniform, including the correct undergarments. Guard you do not need to worry about make-up however.

At about 8:15 we are going to get ready to do a complete run through of the show, that includes getting into and how to get out of the gym. I would like to invite all parents to come and watch that run through.

Parents all always welcome to watch rehearsal, but I would really like you to all come and watch this run through. It will give the group the chance to perform in front of an audience before the competition and will do a lot to calm their nerves for this upcoming weekend. You of course may be there for all of rehearsal, but the run through will be around 8:30. So if you arrive around 8:15 you will be sure not to miss anything.

YES we have rehearsal today

In case you were wondering, the answer is yes we have rehearsal today. Please be careful getting to and from rehearsal as there are some slick spots on the roads. Also be careful when you get to the HS because the parking lot is slick.

I hope you all had a chance to see Matrix either Friday or Saturday. It was a great experience to watch a group of that level and get to listen to the comments that Rob and Kevin(the instructors) were making.

Correction

As many of you pointed out, we cannot have rehearsal on March 6th as that is large group district contest for the bands and choir. So please just remove Friday March 6th from your rehearsal schedule. All other rehearsals posted are correct.

First 2 weeks of March

Here is the first 2 weeks of the March rehearsal schedule. This will take us up through our contest on March 14 and 15. You will notice that we have A LOT of rehearsal time during these two weeks. We need the time and luckily it is all gym time.

Yes, I know this is a lot of practice time! However, it is time that we need, so that we can improve the way that we need to between our first contest weekend and our second contest weekend. We are going to take advantage of the time we have been given because the last two weeks of March may not give us a great deal of rehearsal time.

MATRIX schedule

As I mentioned before the Independent World Drumline Matrix is staying at Tipp this weekend for a WGI regional contest. I would like everyone in the Drumline/Guard to see them while they are here. Here is their schedule:
Friday 20th- At the Middle school(not HS) 9:00pm-1:00am
Saturday 21st- At Middle School(not HS) 9:00am-1:00pm
Satturday 21st-At High School (not Middle School) 8:30pm-1:00am

I would like the majority of people to try to show up for the Saturday morning rehearsal at the Middle School. However, if you cannot make it please try to go to one of the other times. You do not need to stay the entire time they practice. When you go, you MUST be respectful at all times. Remember they are rehearsing and trying to get things done and rude behavior will simply NOT be tolerated.

While you are there, pay attention to how they act throughout rehearsal and how they "perform" every time they go over a set or section. Listen to what the instructors tell performers. You will hear many of the same comments that we give you.

Guard Practices This Week

Last week of Feb.

As I mentioned before, the last week of Feb. had not been finalized. It has now been done. So in addition to the schedule that has been posted we will also have rehearsal on:

These are VERY important rehearsals because they are our last rehearsals before our first contest. We REALLY need EVERYONE at these two rehearsals. So please do everything in your power to be there.

The schedule for March should be finished in the near future and I will post it as soon as I have it.

Guard Rehearsal

Just a reminder that the guard section of the WD will have a rehearsal tomorrow(Wednesday 4 Feb.) from 1:00-3:00. You will be working on part 2.

Tonight's Practice Cancelled

Due to the poor road conditions, tonight's practice (Friday Jan. 30th) is cancelled. The next practice is Sunday--we'll see you all then.

Rehearsal Today

Yes indeed we WILL have rehearsal today. It is from 6:00-9:00 this evening.

In case you have not heard: Henry Robert Cantrell was born on Friday Jan. 16th at 12:29AM.
He was 20.5 inches long and 7lbs 8.5oz. He and Laura are both doing fine. We came home on Saturday late afternoon.

Good afternoon everyone. This is Casey posting on behalf of Chuck. He and Laura are at the hospital this very moment getting ready to say hello to little Henry. Since school was cancelled and Chuck can't very well get me his keys when he is at the hospital, we decided to go ahead and cancel tonight. Everyone have a wonderful Thursday night and make good choices. If you are wondering what to do with all your extra time, might I suggest watching Grey's Anatomy at 9:00. Have a good one!

Just wanted to let you know that we DO have rehearsal today. I drove around a bit this morning and the roads seem to be mostly clear. However, there may be a few icy spots so be careful. Also be careful right in front of the school. The road there is a bit snow covered, but did not seem too slick. So again, please be careful driving in today. See you in a little while.
